"The very essence of our spirituality
is the attitude of honoring the human being
to the highest
as a holy manifestation of
the Creator,
Maker-of-All."

-- J.C. High Eagle

Spirituality
is not as popular as "religion"
It cannot be sold, marketed,
or even monopolized.
It cannot be charged,
bought on credit, or installments.

native american, american indian spirituality, american indian customs

Spirituality cannot be canned,
bottled or packaged.
It can't be taxed or
sale price discounted.
Also, it cannot slave
or be enslaved.

native american, american indian spirituality, american indian customs

No one can make a claim
or title to it along.
No one can hold it back from another,
or take only a piece of it
and leave the rest.
No one can direct it,
nor can he or she change it
if it does not suit his or her
liking or taste.

native american, american indian spirituality, american indian customs

Spirituality will never be considered
"popular" or a fad.
It is constant
and will never change.
Because it is of Truth,
it cannot be coaxed or persuaded.

The message of spirituality will
be as good tomorrow
as it is today.

native american,american indian

It needs no building or construction
in which one must bow or pray.
The poor have it
as well as the rich.

It is shared equally among all things
around and about you.
And because you have it,
it is of no greater or lesser importance
than the other things in existence.

It need not be danced to,
sung to,
or evangelized.
You do not have to fill out forms
to belong,
give an oath,
be made a member or
pay tithes to earn a quota.

Spirituality never presents barriers.
The only barriers
are the boundaries we set for ourselves--
arbitrary limits imposed
that prevent
or block
the spiritual guidance sent to us.

It recognizes you clothed or naked.
it talks to you,
and you to it,
by silent feelings.
In the quiet,
in silence,
it talks.
It has no rules,
procedures,
formalities,
no rituals,
no written laws or commandments--
only great Universal Truths to discover
to learn and
to follow.

native american, american indian medicine path, american indian customs

It remembers you
even when you forget it.
It sees you as you are
and not what you want
or desire to be.

native american, american indian medicine path, american indian customs

You cannot hide from it
because you are already a part of it,
and it's a part of you.
a physical and spiritual blend,
in flow and content.

Spirituality cannot be taught,
only learned from,
witnessed and experienced.

It cannot be forced
but must be entered into gently,
and only when ready.
It waits on you and not you for it.

It is old yet ageless,
for the spirit
is eternal.

"How many needless wars and suffering,
how much persecution and hatred
have been done in the name of religions?
None have ever occurred with spirituality,
because it is what we all share in common
with no differences between us,
and what we can all agree."
-- J.C. High Eagle

The next great steps in human evolution are human awakenings . . .

"All goes to show that the soul in man
is not an organ, but animates and exercises all the organs;
is not a function, like the power of memory,
of calulation, or comparison,
but uses these as hands and feet;
is not a faculty, but a light;
is not the intellect or the will,
but the master of the intellect and the will;
is the background of our being,
in which, they lie--an immensity not possessed
and that cannot be possessed.
From within or from behind,
a light shines through us upon things and
makes us aware that we are nothing but
the light is all.
~ Ralph Waldo Emerson.

IntroPart 1Part 2.Part 3.Part 4.Part 5.Part 6.Part 7.Thanks

"Spirituality speaks from the heart
and to the heart . . .
all hearts in unity!
Unity of people,
Unity of all living things,
Unity with all Creation."
-- J.C. High Eagle

The mainstay of spirituality
is the conception of nature
and the Creator
as being one and the same.
Everything in life,
in nature,
in the world around you,
is merely a different manifestation
of the Great Spirit,
differing only in fit and form
and the manner of love's expression,
the Creator's love,
and not in its basic true character
or identity.

The tree knows who it is,
as well the flower,
the fish,
the bird,
as does the mountain
and sea.

Thus,
to fully realize spirituality,
one cannot progress too far
down the medicine path of
spiritual awareness
until one has receptivity
to the statement that the
Great Spirit may be found
in everything,
and that everything is beautifully combined
and related of spiritual belief.

Thus,
one needs not approach spirituality
as if to ask permission,
but rather,
take up the harness
to pull and tug life's wagonload,
to wade, at times,
through the bog of conflicts,
of struggles,
and strife,
down the spiritual path
yet ever pressing onward,
drawing nigh to one's
final destination
as the Creator's co-partner in life;
as one to co-share
in the divine raptrue and
and meaningful manifestation
of love.

"To know spirituality,
one must rid and release.
Emotional pain and grudges must go.
One must empty out the negatively attached feelings
of regrettable incidents
stored within the memory of their existence.
One must release . . . RELEASE!"
-- J.C. High Eagle

All things are spiritual in nature.
All things have spiritual guidance
available to them in this world.
Some hearts do not open to it.
Those that do,
know.
They have cause for celebration.
For only then,
will they know true peace
and happiness;
know the Creator's
true love.

One must stay away from labels
when discussing spirituality.
The knowledge and wisdom of the Creator's Great Truths of life
differ but only in the sense
of human perceptions.

One must be very careful
not to structure,
dissect,
take bits and pieces from
spirituality.
Everything is interrelated.

One cannot merely borrow
or take
from the spiritual world.
One must also give something
back to it.
Giving is actually receiving.
But, how many want to be takers only?
Spirituality demands that
one have something to give of self,
to learn to transform wanting
down the spiritual path
into giving.

IntroPart 1Part 2.Part 3.Part 4.Part 5.Part 6.Part 7.Thanks

Spirituality demands actions
and not just good intentions.
One's act of going to church or mosque
or any building of worship
in and of itself,
does no demonstrate one's spirituality alone;
but only satifies one's ego and
and lessens its guilt feelings
about not having done something
to show an attempt at
religious expression.

To ease one's conscious--
which really means to
appease one's
ego.

Only egos can be satisfied,
Only spirits can be fulfilled.

native american, american indian spirituality, american indian customs

Spirituality
demands that one give
full obedience to
life's Truths and Universal Principles,
and not just a parttime involvement.

Spirituality
means every waking moment
is as a prayer on this good Mother Earth,
not just one hour
of one day
of the week
set aside.

Spirituality
is not a matter of certain days
and set observances,
but is an integral part of every thought
and daily life,
demonstrated chiefly in the
influence of example
and deed.

One must "walk their talk"
or nothing in spirituality
is real--
Life lived
only in
the ego's illusion.

So, let your inner spirit respond;
Once you have become aware of
the established Supreme Partnership
with the Creator,
you are on the real road
to spirituality--
The road to a
life of meaning . . .
The road to realization,
to celebration of life!
Aho!

"Know first your relationship to yourself;
Know second your relationship to other people;
Know third your relationship to other things;
Know the Creator through the previous three."
-- J.C. High Eagle

Let us continue our sharing . . .

Having little or no living heritage,
the ego finds it convenient
to reduce all spirituality
to one or more 'romantic' images.
It makes the "Creator" fit our needs
rather than vice versa.

People are comfortable with
embracing the religious images
of their perceived spirituality;
because they have never gathered
the strength necessary to live their
own visions in the world.

Those who have never taken real actions
and responsibilities for their own lives,
are, now, subjecting themselves to exploring
a world built of egos--
a flimsy world fashioned by
their own fantasy and escapement.

But those who take an interest in people
and things outside the prison of
their own egos,
are on the way to the real meaning of spirituality . . .
real discovery!

The greatest example
of one's own personal power
is best demonstrated by one's own actions.
This is true spirituality in action.
This is what a spiritually aware person does
as a living example.

All the 'great' teachers
or those with wisdom of the
Great Truths of life,
showed the path to spirituality
through action.

Spirituality isn't something made up
as you go along.
Spirituality is something
you are called to do,
not just when it's just convenient
but all the time.
And that's what makes it tough
when trying to live it.

Physical acts mean nothing
without spiritual dedication
and vice versa.
One needs both to live a true,
spiritually aware life.

To master yourself,
to know who you are
is the simple message of spirituality.
Truly spoken,
you are the universe.

But spirituality has no meaning,
can never be real or important
when conceived as a personal concern only.

There are four things one must
truly strive to know
and master about spirituality:
yourself;
other people;
the world in which you live:
all the other things living
and non-living in this world
that are related to you,
and lastly, the common thread that flows
through all the previous three--
the Great Maker-of-us-all.

These four things are the essence of
all people's understanding, and
spiritual awareness.
Aho!

IntroPart 1Part 2.Part 3.Part 4.Part 5.Part 6.Part 7.Thanks

This is important for all human beings,
for all races and
for all cultures to understand:
One group of people cannot hold entitlement
to knowledge of the spiritual path
over another group that is different.
If beliefs are to be universal,
what is true for one group
must necessarily be the Truth for all.
We can argue over differences in religion,
but we can never argue over differences in spirituality,
because there are no differences!

Spirituality must be related to in everyday,
'normal' situations,
even with business dealings.
One must live life with a
continual conscience awareness or as much as possible,
an awakened sensitivity--
to live life as fully and
completely as possible.
When accomplished, one can know true
love, peace and happiness.

Spirituality should be spoken
in down-to-earth terms.
It must be viewed from
the down-to-earth aspects
of what is carried in one's heart.
Thus, to know spirituality,
one must stop to introspect
about things one treasures in the heart.

Things treasured are
things guarded
But all things treasured
do not value truth . . .
Treasure only
thoughts that honor truths,
and not the ego's desires or making of false truths.

Only then, are they stored
in the heart,
protected and locked by
honest intentions and motives.
Only then,
is one truly rich,
truly wealthy,
truly celebrating life and all of Creation
in partnership with the Creator!
Aho!
